Frequently asked questions

What counts as a WoW secret?

The hidden puzzles and hunts Blizzard tucks into World of Warcraft with no quest marker to follow. Players find them by piecing clues together, often for months, and each one ends in a reward: a secret mount, a hidden pet or a cosmetic item. Lucid Nightmare, Jenafur and the Slime Serpent are some of the best known.

How does it know what I have?

Signed in, it reads your account’s mounts and pets from your last Character Dashboard fetch, and asks Blizzard for your transmog collection and achievements when the page opens. Signed out, it asks Blizzard about the character you look up, right then, and keeps nothing. All of these are shared across your account, so any character gives the same answer.

Why can't it tick off my steps for me?

Blizzard doesn’t share how far along you are in a secret. The hidden quests that track it aren’t in the API, so the steps are a checklist you tick yourself. Signed in, your ticks are saved to your account. Signed out, they stay in this browser. Blizzard’s collected status is never stored with them.

Which secrets does it track?

These 18 for now, each with a written guide that opens in a new tab. We add more as players find them.

Why do some secrets say "Can't check"?

A few rewards look the same as ordinary armor in Blizzard’s transmog collection, like the Blackened Defias Armor and the Scarlet ensembles, so we can’t tell them apart. And sometimes Blizzard doesn’t share a character’s transmog or achievements. Those stay in the list with a written guide and a checklist, and if you have one, mark it yourself and it counts as yours.
